Data Engineer & BI Analyst

Scantox Neuro GmbH is an internationally successful contract research company in the preclinical field. Our team in Neuropharmacology has been working on preclinical studies with a focus on neurodegenerative diseases for many years. At our location in Grambach near Graz, we are looking for a

Data Engineer & BI Analyst

to take ownership of our existing low-code/no-code data and analytics setup.

The role is a hands-on business data role focused on developing and owning our low-code/no-code data and analytics setup in Austria. The person will work with Power BI dataflows, semantic models, and reporting, while also using Power Automate to streamline recurring processes and improve how data supports day-to-day business decisions.
The role will work closely with a database/application manager, a project manager/coordinator, and group finance/controlling.

Your tasks:
• Take ownership of the current Power BI environment, mainly Dataflows Gen1, datasets/semantic models, and related reporting components.
• Review and improve the existing setup with a focus on structure, naming, documentation, reusability, maintainability, and performance.
• Maintain and extend dataflows and semantic models as new business needs arise.
• Work with a mixed landscape of data sources, including business systems, SharePoint lists, and a smaller number of more manual or less structured processes.
• Build and maintain Power Automate cloud flows for recurring business processes such as notifications, approvals, scheduled routines, and data handling.
• Use Power Automate Desktop where cloud automation is not feasible, and keep those solutions limited and supportable.
• Support development and adjustment of Power BI reports when needed, although reporting is not the main focus of the role.
• Collaborate with local colleagues in Austria and with group functions to ensure that solutions are practical, scalable, and well understood.

Your profile:
• Strong hands-on experience with Power BI, especially Power Query (M), data modeling, DAX, and performance optimization.
• Experience working with Power Automate cloud in a business environment.
• Ability to work independently, take ownership, and improve an existing setup without trying to rebuild everything from scratch.
• Structured and pragmatic way of working, with good attention to documentation and maintainability.
• Comfortable working in a small team where close collaboration and self-direction are both important.
• Good English skills are required, as English is the group language.
• German skills are strongly preferred, as day-to-day collaboration in the Austrian office is mainly in German.

Nice to have
• Experience with Microsoft Fabric concepts and tooling.
• Basic SQL understanding, even if SQL is not a major part of the role.
• Interest in reporting and business-facing analytics work.

What we offer you
• Collaboration in an exciting and socially relevant research area
• A collegial, dynamic team
• Personal and professional development opportunities
• Flexible working hours
• Company canteen
• Free company parking
• Company events
• Weekly fruit basket

Salary:
For this position, a collectively agreed minimum gross salary of EUR 3.146,27 per month (14× per year) applies to full-time employment (40 hours per week).
